It’s Okay If We’re Not Your Vibe - And Here’s Why That’s a Good Thing

Let me tell you something as a wedding planner and coordinator that might sound a little counterintuitive:

It’s okay if we’re not your vibe.

Actually, I want you to find the vendors who are.

Your wedding vendors are going to be some of the people you communicate with the most throughout your engagement. We’re going to talk about timelines, budgets, family dynamics, design decisions, last-minute changes, and all the little details that can feel overwhelming when you’re planning a wedding.

So yes, I want you to love our work.

But I also want you to like us.

I want you to feel comfortable asking questions. I want you to feel like you can be honest with us. I want you to trust our advice, laugh with us when things get a little chaotic, and know that when your wedding day arrives, we’re in your corner.

Because here’s the thing:

We do our jobs better when we work with people we genuinely connect with.

That doesn’t mean we have to become best friends. It doesn’t mean you need to love every single thing about our personality. It simply means there should be a sense of mutual respect, trust, and “Yep, these are our people.”

And the same goes for you.

You shouldn’t book a vendor because you feel pressured. You shouldn’t book someone because they’re popular on Instagram. You shouldn’t hire someone because you’re worried you’ll hurt their feelings by saying no.

You should hire the people whose communication style, personality, approach, and overall energy make you feel comfortable and confident.

Maybe you want a planner who is calm and laid-back.

Maybe you want someone who is direct, organized, and will lovingly tell you when an idea isn’t realistic.

Maybe you want someone who feels like your new best friend.

Maybe you want someone who keeps things strictly professional.

There’s no wrong answer.

The right fit is the one that feels right to you.

And if we have a consultation and you realize, “They’re talented, but they’re just not our people,” I genuinely want you to listen to that feeling.

Because I’d rather you find a vendor who makes you feel completely at ease than book us simply because you liked our portfolio.

Your wedding is personal. Your vendors should feel personal, too.

So if you’re searching for your wedding team right now, don’t just ask:

Do I like their work?

Also ask:

Do I like talking to them?

Do I trust them?

Do I feel heard?

Can I see myself being comfortable around them on a stressful day?

Does their personality work well with mine?

And perhaps most importantly:

Can I picture myself handing them the reins when my wedding day finally arrives?

If the answer is yes, you may have found your people.

And if the answer is no?

That’s okay. Truly.

We may not be your vibe, and you may not be ours.

That doesn’t mean either of us is wrong.

It just means there’s probably another vendor out there who is a better fit for you, and that’s exactly what you deserve.

Because when the couple and their vendors genuinely click, something pretty magical happens:

There’s trust.

There’s better communication.

There’s less stress.

There’s more collaboration.

And on wedding day, there’s a team of people who actually enjoy being there together.

That’s the kind of wedding experience we want to create - and the kind we want for every couple, whether that couple ends up being ours or not.
